LUMINA began with a simple observation: most people do not fear dentistry — they fear feeling rushed, unheard and surprised by bills. We built a studio that removes all three.
Our Story
A different kind of dental studio
Our founding appointment ran forty minutes: thirty of conversation, ten of dentistry. That ratio — listening before treating — became the blueprint for everything LUMINA does.
Our mission is straightforward: to make advanced dentistry feel calm, transparent and personal. That means digital precision in the treatment room, plain language in the consultation, and written estimates before anything begins.
Our treatment philosophy follows three rules: prevent before treating, preserve before replacing, and never recommend what we would not choose for our own families.

A decade and counting
Clinic timeline
2011
Dr. Amara Okafor opens a two-chair practice on Meridian Quay with a radical premise: appointments that never feel rushed.
2015
The studio goes fully digital — impressions, imaging and records — retiring the putty tray for good.
2018
LUMINA Riverside expands to six treatment rooms and welcomes Dr. Marsh and Dr. Iyer.
2021
Our second studio opens in Hillcrest Village, bringing the same calm to the north of the city.
2024
In-house milling arrives: same-day crowns become the norm, not the exception.
Today
Two studios, four clinicians, and 20,000+ patient stories — most of which begin with someone nervous.
Sterilization
A dedicated decontamination suite, digitally logged sterilization cycles, sealed instrument tracking and annual external audits. Single-use items are never reused. Safety here is a system, not a promise.
Sustainability
Digital records and impressions have removed most of our paper and plastic waste. We segregate and responsibly process clinical waste, choose recyclable packaging, and offset the energy of both studios.
Community
Free annual check-up days for local schools, oral health talks at community centers, and a quiet fund that covers emergency care for neighbors who cannot afford it. Team culture is simple: kindness scales.
